Oil Cooler & Fan Kit, 72 Plate Competition

EMPI now offers their popular 72-plate competition oil cooler with a 12 volt electric fan. The fan is 9″ in diameter and wired so that customers can either install an on/off switch or inline thermostat. The fan direction is also easily reversible by flipping the blade assembly over. The oil cooler is 1 1/2″ x 8″ x 11″ and comes with all fittings and hardware for installation on your air cooled VW. Made with aircraft-quality aluminum, this cooler relies on cross-path air flow across heavy duty plates instead of the standard finned tube design of most radiators or oil coolers. According to the manufacturer, air flows through as many as 16 paths across 72 sturdy embossed plates to provide better cooler in a smaller package. This cooler will create minimal drops in oil pressure. The cooler is painted black for quick heat dissipation and has 1/2″ female NPT fittings. We recommend purchasing mounting dampers (P/N 9259) with this kit to prevent excess vibration that can damage the cooler. This kit fits Beetle through 1979, Karmann Ghia through 1974, Type 2 Bus through 1971, and 1973 to 1974 Thing models.
